Wonder Yoga is a marriage of the practices and lifestyle of its creators Sally Ferris and Richard Facer. Having spent a decade learning, travelling and exploring multiple versions of the ancient practice of yoga they grew to realise that the commonality of all the varied practices was WONDER.

As yoga teachers they discovered that everyone, no matter what style of yoga they chose to follow, was filled with a sense of wonder; a wonder for life; a curiosity to explore their own abilities; an openness to connection and a sense of balance and awareness.

Preparing for Your Class

When You Arrive:

  • Give yourself 10-15 mins to find a park closeby. There’s loads of parking but it’s nice not to be rushed.
  • Our gorgeous staff will show you around, get to know you better and make sure you are comfortable for your first class
  • We ask you to respect our ‘no shoes’ policy and to be quiet in the studios prior to class

What to Bring:

  • Wear what you’d wear to the gym minus the layers. Nothing loose or baggy as we tend to sweat and loose clothing just becomes a distraction!
  • We supply everything including towels, mats and all props
  • Just bring a water bottle to fill up with our pure alkalised water or you can always buy a drink from us if you forget

Behind the Studio: Sally Ferris & Richard Facer

Tell us a little bit about how your yoga journey began.

Sally: 25 years ago in a church hall practising what would best described as ‘Traditional Hatha’ yoga. From there, I began a regular Bikram practice to a Vinyasa/Yin practice that is full of balance and self-care.

What inspired you to take the leap and open up your own studio?

It was a now or never kinda moment.... all the stars aligned.

Speaking of inspiration, what words do you live by? Name your personal or professional motto.

Wander Often. Wonder Always.

What sort of experience are you looking to cultivate when someone steps foot inside your yoga studio?

Our aim at the studio is to cultivate a sense of awe and wonder in our students. A wonder for life, a curiosity to explore their ownabilities, an openness to connection and a sense of balance and awareness.

Wander Often. Wonder Always.

Describe the kind of music your teachers play during class. What's the music vibe like?

Eclectic, from Biggie to Krishna Das to REO Speedwagon. And everyone loves to flow to an 80s power ballad!

While we're in the neighbourhood, what local spots should we check out before or after class?

It’s impossible not to enjoy an amazing breakfast at our two favourite neighbours - Bear & Bean and A Spot For Joe.

Thule Trading just a short walk down the “lanes precinct” is a gorgeous gift and homewares store. Along the way you’ll pass Our Satellite Hearts - a must visit for all thing crystals and quirky.

Two doors up from Wonder you’ll also find Moondust - seriously cute as a button clothes and fun gifts to spoil yourself. Oh and while your in the ‘hood you need to grab the most delicious treats at Cakesmith or an amazing tea blend at Australian Tea Masters. These guys are our tribe.

A little further afield down ‘Pako’ you’ll Find Born and Bread, Southside and Faceplant.

For a late night treat hit up Sober Ramen or The Hot Chicken Project (their haloumi burger is heavenly).

If you could collaborate with someone on a dream project, who would it be and why?

Michelle Obama, her focus on living your best, most healthy life is inspiring.

Lastly, what are you most proud of when it comes to your studio and/or your community?

We are an inclusive welcoming studio that makes yoga accessible from the absolute beginner through to creating a space for advanced practice. We are excited by the journey our students take.
