Willow began with a vision that there could be a place for people to find themselves in the midst of mayhem. An oasis for the everyday individual to escape, retreat, revitalise and take a moment to just breathe.

Willow offers a holistic approach to health and wellbeing that fills your senses with ambient tones, rhythmic symmetry and purified air. This harmonious atmosphere invites you to immerse yourself in the surroundings and open your soul to inner peace, connection and happiness.

Our Urban Retreat provides a 360° approach to wellness. We meld Eastern and Western philosophies to personalise experiences and guide guests on their wellness journey. Our retreat programs adopt an integrated approach, an inspiration for creating a healthy lifestyle — your unique wellness experience.

Preparing for Your Class

When You Arrive:

  • Aim to arrive 10-15 mins before your class starts, to allow time for parking and to settle in.
  • There is 2-hour parking available on all surrounding streets, however, please be mindful of the clearways on High Street in the mornings and evenings.
  • NOTE: If you're attending a morning class before the cafe and spa open, your teacher will meet you at reception (on the spa side of the building).

What to Bring:

  • Wear anything you feel comfortable moving in, and please bring a water bottle to class (we have filtered water available).
  • We provide Manduka yoga mats, bolsters, blocks, straps, blankets and towels for complimentary use during your class.

Behind the Studio: Sharon Bassat

Tell us a little bit about how your yoga journey began.

Sharon's wellness journey began 6 years ago when she decided to make self-care a priority, after experiencing periods of insomnia and anxiety. Along with other lifestyle changes, she began practising yoga, and experienced the benefits on her physical, emotional and mental health.

What inspired you to take the leap and open up your own studio

Sharon was inspired by her experiences at the health retreats she visited overseas on her personal health journey, and wanted to create an urban retreat that was convenient and accessible to everyday life. Willow Urban Retreat offers an integrated and holistic approach to health and wellbeing, providing wholeness for mind, body and spirit.

Speaking of inspiration, what words do you live by? Name your personal or professional motto.

Willow exists to create connection, community and inspire lifestyle change.

What sort of experience are you looking to cultivate whenever someone steps foot into your studio?

We want people to feel welcome, supported and inspired when they visit; Willow's a place where they can nourish, relax, refresh and just breathe.

Willow is a place that promotes and educates physical, nutritional, mental and social wellbeing, it is a space to escape from city stressors.

Describe the kind of music your teachers play during class. What's the music vibe like?

Depending on the style of class and teacher, it varies from mellow to upbeat to traditional tunes!

While we're in the neighbourhood, what local spots should we check out before or after class?

Willow's cafe for a nourishing wholefoods, smoothies, chai and coffee before or after class, or our wellness spa for a sauna, spa treatment or health consultation. Nearby on High Street there's plenty of shopping - we love Ivy Muse for greenery & gifts, Assembly Label for everyday basics and Nimble for activewear!

If you could collaborate with someone on a dream project, who would it be and why?

We're so excited to be collaborating with the Mindful Pregnancy Yoga School and Angea in 2020 to bring our community a range of beautiful women's yoga classes and events.
