SlowLane Yoga is all about the journey not the destination. Nestled in the lane, you are warmly welcomed into our space of wood and brick, and into our community of SlowLaners. Here we invite you to move (and rest) the body as was intended and stir the soul in ways as yet to unfold.

What inspired you to take the leap and open up your own studio?

Together on a freezing cold winter day in New York, we stepped into our first hot yoga class together (mostly to get out of the cold). From that moment everything changed, and whilst the nature of our practice has evolved from that moment we were hooked. We had long dreamed of creating something together even before Yoga came into our lives. We wanted to share a purpose through which we could give back, channel our passion, and provide a space which both nourished and challenged people (the way we had been nourished and challenged ourselves).

Speaking of inspiration, what words do you live by? Name your personal or professional motto.

ha ha - thats easy... "Life in the SlowLane!"

What sort of experience are you looking to cultivate whenever someone steps foot into your studio?

SlowLane is all about the journey rather than the destination so we try encourage our students to understand the experience is different each time you are on the mat. The SlowLane experience always involves a warm welcome and a cuppa after class.

Describe the kind of music your teachers play during class. What's the music vibe like?

Outside class are tunes are all about the cruisy vibes. In class we believe that all music played must hold a purpose but we allow and encourage our teaching team to draw on their own inspiration.

While we're in the neighbourhood, what local spots should we check out before or after class?

Our fave Cafe is Sir Dukes for a morning coffee or Tumeric latte. A wander down Puckle Street is about browsing the mix of new and old school shops and chatting to the locals. Highly recommend a stroll or a sit in the sunshine by the Maribyrnong river.

If you could collaborate with someone on a dream project, who would it be and why?

A number of people spring to mind but if the project could be somewhere tropical that would be amazing!

Lastly, what are you most proud of when it comes to your studio and/or your community?

Our community is mixed demographic, down to earth and genuinely welcoming - that is something we are really grateful to have in the SlowLane. We are a little proud of our fit-out with pre-loved furniture, turkish pumpkin lamps, community blackboard, an urban jungle and desert pink rustic walls - all of which we did ourselves.
