At Kindred Movement we aim to bring together like-minded individuals to achieve as one entity, much more than we can achieve alone.

Our studio is a relaxing retreat and a welcoming contrast to the busy streets outside. Support your body as we move, flow and breathe together.

We aspire to make yoga and wellbeing accessible to our community as a whole on a physical, spiritual and financial level, regardless of experience, varying age or shapes and sizes in the physical body.

Behind the Studio: Mandy O'Keefe

Tell us a little bit about how your yoga journey began.

You hear this story so many times in the industry and mine is not unique! I turned to yoga to deal with a high pressure and stressful job and was so blown away by the physical and mental benefits I thought to myself "why don't I do THIS" instead? The rest is history.

What inspired you to take the leap and open up your own studio?

I'm passionate about sharing the experience of yoga, in particular creating a space and community where students feel at home.

Speaking of inspiration, what words do you live by? Name your personal or professional motto.

Fortune favours the brave.

What sort of experience are you looking to cultivate when someone steps foot inside your yoga studio?

Like they're arriving at a friend's house where they feel welcome and comfortable to be themselves.

We aim to bring together like-minded individuals to achieve as one entity, much more than we can achieve alone.

Describe the kind of music your teachers play during class. What's the music vibe like?

Expect upbeat funky tunes for Vinyasa Flow, downtempo slinky beats for Vinyasa Slow and chilled out vibes for Yin.

While we're in the neighbourhood, what local spots should we check out before or after class?

Three Bags Full for coffee and brunch, walk along the river or explore the parklands, Abbotsford Convent for a wholesome day trip.

If you could collaborate with someone on a dream project, who would it be and why?

Nils Frahm - in my opinion the most talents musician of our generation. The man is not of this Earth!

Lastly, what are you most proud of when it comes to your studio and/or your community?

It tickles me pink when people tell me how much yoga has changed their lives, and how they've connected with the space and my teachers. Small business can be a real challenge but when I receive feedback like this it really reminds me of why I do what I do.
