Tell us a little bit about how your yoga journey began.

Yoga was always part of my vision for the space. I gave birth to my first daughter in New York in 2014 and did prenatal yoga twice a week until she was born at 39 weeks. The class was a beautiful mix of connection, storytelling, community, movement, relaxation and birth prep. I couldn't find anything like it when I returned to Melbourne so I found a yoga teacher who was aligned with my vision and created the classes for Gather.

What inspired you to take the leap and open up your own studio?

I felt there was a real need to create a space for women to come together and connect free of judgement. I wanted to create a space that was all about self-care and nourishment and a space where women would feel held and supported no matter what journey they were on.

Speaking of inspiration, what words do you live by? Name your personal or professional motto.

"Yes I'm afraid but I'm going to do it anyway." - Cleo Wade

What sort of experience are you looking to cultivate when someone steps foot inside your yoga studio?

I want the women who step into Gather to feel at home - comfortable, safe, nurtured, warm and supported.

I created Gather to be a space where women would feel held and supported no matter what journey they were on.

Describe the kind of music your teachers play during class. What's the music vibe like?

It's all very chill. We're all about relaxation and restoration.

While we're in the neighbourhood, what local spots should we check out before or after class?

Little Man Cafe for coffee, Simple Form and Sedonia for beautiful homewares, The Sun Theatre for a movie and Lay Low Bar for a cocktail.

If you could collaborate with someone on a dream project, who would it be and why?

Kimberly Johnson of Magamama for the incredible work she is doing in the space of womanhood, motherhood, sex and postpartum life.

Lastly, what are you most proud of when it comes to your studio and/or your community?

We are just starting out but I am most proud of the overwhelmingly positive feedback I have been given by women who have been in the space, saying how intimate and beautiful it is. I am also proud of the amount of people who have reached out to me to say how important a space like Gather is and to thank me for creating it.
