At Eve, we offer a range of classes for women (trans and non-binary women welcome) with expert teachers across in each field, including yoga, pilates, barre, dance, and fitness.

We focus on supporting women to connect with themselves in a positive way, and find ways to move that they enjoy. Our yoga classes include Vinyasa, Yin, Slow Flow, Prenatal.

Preparing for Your Class

When You Arrive:

  • Arrive 10-15 minutes before class
  • There is parking on the streets around the studio
  • It sometimes gets a bit busy in the evenings, so allow 5 mins of parking time just in case
  • We lock the front door 3 minutes after the class start time, and we don't want to lock anyone out!

What to Bring:

  • Wear comfy clothes you can move in freely
  • We have all equipment, but students are welcome to bring their own mat if they prefer

Behind the Studio: Annie Carter

Tell us a little bit about how your yoga journey began.

I fell in love with yoga, practising on a beach in Thailand at sunset. How could I not?! The setting was beautiful, but really it was the powerful practice that captivated me, and I have been a student of yoga ever since.

What inspired you to take the leap and open up your own studio?

I was dreaming of a warm and welcoming space for women. I recognised that women have different needs from day to day, and in different life stages, and I dreamed of a space that could provide for these needs with a huge range of classes (yoga, dance, fitness, pilates, barre, meditation...) and a supportive community. I couldn't find a space like this, and so I created Eve.

We opened the doors to our first studio in Thornbury in 2014 (and relocated to Preston a few years later) and our beautiful and newest studio is now open in Brunswick.

Speaking of inspiration, what words do you live by? Name your personal or professional motto.

Do it like you mean it. I love the idea of showing up wholeheartedly in each moment.

What sort of experience are you looking to cultivate whenever someone steps foot into your studio?

At the front door there's a sign. It says: "You are so welcome here, exactly as you are. We love you already." This is how we want women to feel - complete acceptance. It's the starting point for everything we're about at Eve.

Describe the kind of music your teachers play during class. What's the music vibe like?

Our teachers play a range of music, and sometimes incorporate silence. The music tends to be without lyrics, or in Sanskrit, but sometimes we mix it up with some beats, depending on the vibe of the class.

While we're in the neighbourhood, what local spots should we check out before or after class?

Mutual Muse (for buying, selling and swapping unique pre-loved clothing) is right downstairs, and is amazing! For food, head to Wide Open Road for a delish house-made chai, or Ted’s (hidden in the street behind the studio) - it’s a sweet, ethical cafe.

Lastly, what are you most proud of when it comes to your studio and/or your community?

I'm proud of the amazing team and the incredible community of women at Eve. It is such a warm, judgement-free space, where we get to be real with ourselves and each other. And I love how we genuinely seek to practice yoga in all that we do.
