Emma Maidment & Emily Toner invite you to a 10-hour immersion to learn about the science, psychology and practice of mindfulness and meditation from a clinical health perspective as well as a yogic philosophical viewpoint.

You will learn about the difference between mindfulness and meditation, and gain a theoretical and experiential understanding of the various types of meditation techniques available - including secular mindfulness practice, transcendental meditation, and tantric and energetic practices.

Who is it for?

Mindfulness and meditation are profound tools and techniques to enhance your teaching, offerings and your life. Whether you are a yoga teacher, PT, group fitness trainer, health care professional, student or curious meditator wanting more depth, this course is designed to deepen your understanding of mindfulness and meditation and add valuable knowledge to your personal and professional toolkit.

What will I learn?

This immersion will invite you to learn about the science, psychology and practice of mindfulness and meditation from a clinical health perspective as well as a yogic philosophical viewpoint. You will learn about the difference between mindfulness and meditation, and gain a theoretical and experiential understanding of the various types of meditation techniques available - including secular mindfulness practice, transcendental meditation, and tantric and energetic practices.

What skills will I gain?

You will leave with a more nuanced and embodied understanding of mindfulness and meditation. You will learn invaluable skills around how to practice mindfulness and meditation safely, including how to share your professional offerings responsibly with people of varying presentations and levels of experience. Please note, this course is not designed to teach you how to teach the meditation techniques explored throughout, but is designed to help you to understand them more deeply from an embodied perspective, and then be able to integrate them into both Western and Eastern frameworks of the mind.

It is hoped that you will leave the experience being able to share your existing personal offerings from a more integrated and informed position of embodied experience and nuanced understanding.

What will we be doing?

Each session will begin with a gentle yoga asana, breathing (pranayama) and meditation practice. This will be followed by a lecture-style workshop, including group discussion and individual exercises, interspersed with meditation and mindfulness practices. You will be invited to share your personal and professional experiences, and connect with like-minded colleagues. You will also have the opportunity to stay in touch with your new Mindkit community via our private online forum following the session.

About the Facilitators

Emily Toner
Emily is a Clinical Psychologist and Mindfulness Consultant with a research background in Behavioural Neuroscience and Positive Psychology from the University of Melbourne. She consults to schools and organisations on how they can embed mindfulness and wellbeing theory and practice into their ethos and everyday actions. She brings the hard-hitting science and VERY SERIOUS evidence-based clinical credibility to the Mindkit workshop series.

Emma Maidment
Emma is an International Yoga and Meditation Teacher who has dedicated years to studying the ancient art of Meditation under various influential teachers and masters. She runs yoga and meditation retreats, facilitates corporate wellness programs and speaks and writes on the topics of yoga and meditation for media and large scale events. She brings the spiritual ‘WOO WOO’ and cosmic credibility element to the Mindkit workshop series, along with many years of teaching yoga and meditation to the masses.
